Hi
Everyone,
Hard
to believe that 2010 is over. So much happened and we
were busier than ever. I am sitting here in snowy cold
Vermont. We are having a real winter for the first time
in a long time with lots of snow and those incredible
bright sunny days. Anne and I have been riding as much
as we can and, in spite of the cold, it has been great...love
those azure blue skies.
Though we have no foals to tell you about we spent a
lot of time working with the youngsters and competing
this year.
Anne spent a lot of time with LBF
Diamond Jim Brady this summer getting him under
saddle and taking him out on the trail. Next year it
will be his siste'rs turn for some serious work though
she did spend some time in the round pen over the summer.
Jazzie
(LBF
All that Jazz) also was started under saddle.
It was a very busy year with Firefly
competing in dressage. We competed at Training level
and first, scoring in the mid to high 60%. At our last
show I was thrilled with my last class First Level Test
2. Not only did I get a good score but I managed to
remember the test. This had alluded me all summer. Firefly
and I hope that we will be showing at Second Level by
mid summer. We still have a lot to learn but with expert
instruction from my teacher, Jutta Lee of Harland, Vermont
we should be able to do it.
In the fall we attended two fabulous clinics with Wolfgang
Dellefont at Steve and Dinah Rojek's, Smoke Rise Farm.
I am hoping that Dinah will have more clinics with Wolfgang
in 2011.
Queen (LBF
Cajun Queen) also made her debut in competitive
trail riding this spring. We did two 15 mile rides garnering
a first and reserve Grand Champion place. I hope to
do more with her in the future.
LBF Diamond
Lil went off to Jutta Lee's for two months training.
I have spent most of time this winter in the saddle
with her. She is learning to be very forward and brave
going down the trails and the roads. We hope to do a
few CTR's this spring if my old body is up to it. I
also bought back one of my favorites LBF Call Me Madam.
Her owner wanted a Grand Prix horses and though Rita
is a very nice lower level horse she is not going to
be a GP prospect. She too will hit the trail because
I know that is what she likes to do so I am looking
to have a lot of fun with her.
I would like to announce that through the generosity
of Benjamin and Amanda Pearce I have acquired the cremello
stallion, Baptiste
Blue Hawaii. Levi as he is called will start his
dressage training as soon as weather permits this spring
and I am looking forward to seeing how he will do. This
seven year old stallion is all Morgan in looks, with
lovely solid bone, pretty head and a great disposition.
We all look forward to having any one visit us at the
farm, it is always fun to see old friends and make new
ones.
Best
wishes,
